Basecamp is an extremely popular project management tool, with over 75,000 organisations in 166 countries using the software. While it’s not specific to accounting, it can still be used by accountants for all of their project management needs. 

Within Basecamp, each project lives on a single page so you can easily find the information you need. The interface is intuitive and user-friendly, making it easy to track project progress, stay organised, and maintain clear communication with your clients and internal teams. 

The tool also has some more unusual claims to fame that we haven’t seen from other project management tools, like 99.99% historical uptime, zero debt, and ‘famously great customer service’. 

How much does Basecamp cost?

Basecamp has two simple plans on offer. The first is for freelancers and smaller teams, costing $15 per user/month. The second is for growing businesses and larger companies and costs $349 per month.

– 99.99% historical uptime
Cons: – There’s no free plan and there’s a gargantuan jump cost-wise between the first plan and the second
– Basecamps target is small businesses so it’s lacking some of the more advanced features

Jetpack Workflow is a specialised project management software designed specifically for accounting professionals. It helps accounting firms manage client workflows, track project progress, and streamline daily operations. With its focus on accounting-specific needs, Jetpack Workflow aims to help accountants enhance productivity, improve client communication, and ensure tasks are completed on time.

Jetpack Workflow has one plan that can be paid either monthly or annually. Starter Monthly costs $45 and Starter Annually works out to be $30 per month. Both prices are per user and the plan offers access to unlimited projects, clients, templates, and more.

Accelo is an all-in-one business management software for service-based businesses. Some of the industries Accelo serves are consulting, engineering, and of course, accounting. 

The software is quite all-encompassing, offering client relationship management, workflow management, and project management. 

As an accountant, you can use Accelo to gain true visibility over your entire client journey, keep track of time and billing, and automate your repetitive tasks.

Monday.com is a work OS (operating system) that helps teams to manage their projects. It’s not specifically for accountants, but pretty much any type of business can use Monday to plan, manage and track workplace tasks.

One of the things Monday is really great for is making customisable dashboards that allow you to visualise your progress and keep up to date on your most important data points. Dashboards can be customised with over 50 available widgets (no code required). 

Like Trello, Monday wasn’t really built for real-time client collaboration. There are ways around it (like integrating with Slack) but if this is important to you then a different project management software might be the better option.

Monday has 5 plans available. It’s free forever for up to 2 users. The next tier is Basic, which is £11 per user seat/month, followed by Standard which is £13 per user seat/month, and Pro which is £21 per user seat/month. The final plan is Enterprise but users will need to get in touch with Monday directly for a quote on that.

ClickUp integrates with popular accounting software, like QuickBooks and Xero, plus it has impressive reporting capabilities on offer. However, some users could find the enormity of ClickUp to be a little overwhelming.
